The problem exists on my Word 2010 and Word 2013 machines. It seems to be the ThisDocument module where the problem lies. I can move the macros into a new module and they run happily there (directly) but fail to run in ThisDocument which is where they need to be for the ActiveX objects to kick them off.
A workaround would be to re-create those buttons on the ribbon - which in my opinion is the best place for them anyway.

I haven't had any luck clearing the specified file types either.
