I found out the reason why I couldn't import the Contacts into Outlook 2013 here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/o...f-206fd243339c

The solution i found was to create another profile in Outlook (Control Panel, Mail) WITHOUT the outlook.com email setup.
I was then able to import a .pst file with my Contacts into Outlook and then I set up a Gmail account having set my Outlook account to forward to Gmail.
I am principally an Apple man and it is because of these types of gyrations that I prefer the Mac. So many steops to do a seemingly simple thing.
