Well, there are still two things you can do before having to resort to coding your own solution:

1) Create a new Outlook profile with just that one group mailbox in it, then you will gain access to that set of rules using the normal Outlook mechanisms.
2) Use a tool like (* ahem *) the Power Rules Manager, which will allow you to edit and modify rules of shared mailboxes.
