You can create a multi-level list to have your numbering attached to styles if you follow the directions at How to create numbered headings or outline numbering in Word 2007 and Word 2010. I know your profile indicates you are using Word 2013 but, these instructions are spot on and will work if you follow the instructions.

Reference "I want it to be that when I click on the Multi-level List icon on the paragraph ribbon that the above format is the format used every single time as the default" you may want to create a template in that format. Guidance to do that can be found at Charles Kenyons link: Templates in Microsoft Word.

Spend the time necessary to learn these processes and it will pay ten-fold in the future. Hope this helps...
