I think it could be a nice productivity enhancement to have an always-on top widget that constantly displays the number of emails I sent today. It would be nice if there was a way to also configure it to display the number of emails read and filed.

Does something like this exist? If not, what APIs can be used to create it (not that I necessarily would be able to do it, but it could be a nice project).
