I just got word 2011 for mac and am trying to open a document that i had previously been working on with word 2008 (for mac) on a different machine. when i try to open this file word opens for a split second and then shuts back down. I am able to open other documents, some of them .docx and some of the .doc, but there seems to be an similar issue with some of my other files, where word simply shuts down when i attempt to open them. One commonality i can see is btwn these files is that i have used the citation software, Zotero, in these documents. My new 2011 word currently has the zotero add-on and seems to function fine when i construct new documents. This problem does not happen for all of my files in which i have used zotero, however...

One other peculiarity is that when i try to open anything from within word (going File>open route) there appears to be a significant glitch. The program slows down immensely, and i am not able to scroll without the scrolling bar spontaneously returning to its original position.

I desperately need to fix this problem. Any help would be mostly appreciated.

I am running OSX yosemite 10.10. New mac book pro.
