Default How to make a transparent calendar outline, and insert it on top of a photo.

I have my own photograph; I am a photographer and have tens of thousands of my own pictures, so no worries of copyright anything. The subject is offset to the right side. The left side is an open space of snow. I would like to insert or overlay, or whatever the proper term is...! I do not know the proper term, I just know the vision I have in my head.

A transparent single month calendar outline in this space is what I want, for the purpose of a single month activities calendar for a lodge that I work for. The only information I would like visible is the calendar's daily box outlines, the numerical dates for those days, the days of the week along the top edge, starting with Monday ending with Sunday, and brief descriptions of the activities for the appropriate days during the month, with the beautiful snow visible in the background behind the calendar.

i know it can be done, I have seen it many many places, and to me it seems that it would be so simple. I have been trying to the point of frustration, to no avail. We are open 9 months a year, and I will produce these every month for years to come, with a different photo on each produced calendar; never repeating images.

I am running Mac OS X Yosemite on a 3 year old iMac 21.5

Thank you for any and all help in advance,

TheSkiBoy
