Default Possible Security Issue?

Hi -
I bought Office 2007 Home and Student a few months ago and it has worked fine up until now. When I opened Excel yesterday, it opened with a blank spreadsheet, but it looked as if something was slowly (about once per second) moving to the right across a row merging successive cells into one large cell. This didnt look good to me so I tried to closed Excel, but a dialog box popped up and asked me if I wanted to saves the changes to that file. The cancel and No options didnt work, and I couldnt close Excel or get a response from control/alt/delete. I wasnt going to save whatever this was, but said yes to see if that button worked, knowing that I could still get back out. It did and in the "save file as:" field for the new file name, the same effect was marching across the field with steps larger than that for a character would have been. So I got back out and tried to log off. The system said that it couldnt close Excel and that I had to do it. Luckily, I tried again to close, and it asked if I wanted to force Excel to close, to which I said yes and it closed and logged me off. I ran the Zone Alarm Extreme computer scan and found nothing.

I tried Excel again today and nothing seems out of the ordinary, and Word seemed OK too. I am writing this because the behavior seemed very suspicious and I would like to follow up and make sure that I dont have a problem.

I am running an up-to-date Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit on a Core 2 Quad/DG43GT board with 8 MB RAM, with up-to-date Zone Alarm Extreme Security suite.

I would appreciate any suggestions,
Thanks,
GarP
