Question "See Page Number xx"

Hi There!

I am running WORD 2000 and have, like everyone here, a question. I would try a Search but I don't know what to call the thing I want to do .

Here it is.

Lets say I have a WORD document that is 10 pages long. I have added Page Numbers to it. (Insert/Page Numbers/Bottom of the page, on the right).

This document has been printed and I have it in my hand. Within my document on the sixth page, I have a sentence that reads "See Widgets on page 8". If I turn to page 8, I will see a section concerning "Widgets". Remember, this is a printed document.

Now, lets say I update my Word document and add 2 new pages. These 2 new pages follow page 1.

That means my document is now 12 pages long, and, my Widgets page, that was formally on page 8, is now on page 10.

Without me physically changing my "See Widgets" page number reference, I want WORD to update it automatically for me so, when I print the document again, the reference page reflects the new page position.

It all boils down to this. Is there a way to have the page reference number in the "See" sentence change "on-the-fly" (automatically)???

If WORD 2000 is too old? If so, can it be done in a newer version?

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks

Barry

(By-the-Way, if Word can do this, what do you call it??
