Not knowing the file type is was saved as, I can only guess. My first guess would be to use Microsoft Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) to navigate to the mystery file. Use Explorer to open the mystery file. If you have a program associated to the mystery file type, Windows Explorer will choose that program automatically. If you don't have the right program, you will get a dialog box letting you search the internet for the right program. This may at least give you the file type and help you narrow down the solution.

Can you see the extension after your file name (the letters after the dot)? Knowing that will help you determine what opens the file you have created or if there is a problem with the file name.
