Do you have the Office Clipboard turned on? That is a clipboard that holds 24 entries across all office programs.

In Word, on the Home tab click on the dialog launcher button for the clipboard task pane (bottom right of the clipboard group on the left end of the ribbon).

Once the clipboard is gone, it is gone.
