You cannot run macros without having them enabled. There are, of course, different levels of macro security and you can combine that with the use (or not) of trusted locations. You mention the document going to 3rd parties. You would be ill-advised to send documents with macros to 3rd parties - their security protocols may not permit them to be downloaded or the macros to be run. Furthermore, for obvious reasons, your document can't override their macro security settings.
