Going back to the original premise of producing placards, there are a couple of other options that you might consider.

1. Merge only the records you want directly to the printer.
2. Merge to separate documents, using http://www.gmayor.com/individual_merge_letters.htm
3. You could probably even use my envelope and label add-in http://www.gmayor.com/Envelope_Label_Add_In.htm which will work with an Excel data file to print individual 'labels'. This does of course mean setting up your document as a custom label. It also depends on the complexity of the document.

but if you stick to the present method, you have to print sections.
