Default

By default, formfields have an internal bookmark name when inserted (e.g. 'Text1'), though you can change or delete the bookmark. To reference the field, therefore, all you need do is to insert a cross-reference to the bookmark. As for having the cross-reference automatically update, all that requires is for you to check the formfield's 'calculate on exit' property.
