Thanks for your replies guys, and I'll use that tip about the USB to see if that stops the issue. For the past five years at least, every single bit of my work has been saved to USB, and it seems too much of a coincindence that as soon as Windows XP stops being supported by microsoft, then all this trouble with Word 2003 flares up.
