What you're seeing may be due to limitations in your systems display driver. Check the maker's website for an updated one.

In any event, simply hiding text is an unreliable means of preventing the display of printing of document content. That's because Word's settings that control whether to display and/or print it is a part of Word's configuration, rather than being a document property. So, if you're sharing the document with someone else, they may see and/or print the hidden content.
