XP SP3, Word 2007

I use Truecrypt for encryption.

When there are no partitions is mounted, and I try to open a word 2007 document that is in a non-nencrypted area, dialog boxes pop up in the following order:

1. The command cannot be performed because a dialog box is open. Click ok, and then close the open dialog boxes to continue.

2. The file normal.dotm cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents

3. Word found unreadable content in Normal.dotm. Do you want to recover the contents of this document? If you trust the source of this document, click Yes

4. The file normal.dotm cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents

5. Word could not create the work file. Check the environmental variable.

6. Word could not create the work file. Check the environmental variable.

After dialog "6", the document opens normally.

When the document is closed, another dialog appears:

7. Changes have been made that affect t the global template, Normal.dotm. Do you want to save those changes? (this occurs even when changes have not been made)

When the volumes are mounted, documents open without incident.

I'm aware that Truecrypt has been discontinued. However, I will continue to use it.

I will eventually migrate upwards from XP, but until then I'd like to solve this problem, particularly if it might occur for me in later Windows OS'es as well.
