If you are simply trying to create a header and footer (with applicable data) for your basic document with the following pages being without the header, create the header and footer as normal (double-clicking in the header and footer areas to create). Once you have done that, click into the normal text portion of the document and enter some/all text followed by a SECTION BREAK from the PAGE LAYOUT ribbon in the Page Setup "Breaks" portion of the ribbon. Go to the next page and double-click in the Header (the Header and Footer Tools Menu will appear). In the "Navigation" section of that ribbon, click on "Link to Previous" to insure that it is NOT HIGHLIGHTED. Exit out of the header and continue your document on the second page. You should see that the header that appears on Page 1 will be absent on Page 2 (or, you may have to delete from page 2 and achieve the same result).
