You could use Format, Bar Styles to change the text on the bars from resource names to resource initials.
However, I would say that any task with 20 resources assigned probably needs to be chopped up into smaller pieces, so that each task has only 2 - 3 resources assigned (unless they are the members of an orchestra or something like that).
