What the message box confirms is that you do not have the letter 'x' there, but the '´' symbol from the symbol font. As such it's a protected character, for which you can't obtain the equivalent ASCII value (hint: 4096-3916) in the immediate window. If you change the font to, say, Arial or Times, you'll be able to read the ASCII value. Whether that's any use to you depends on what you're trying to do.
