Click File tab | Options | Save. Select "Don't show the Backstage when opening or saving files." Unfortunately, this won't suffice. You must also stop using the File tab to access the Open and Save As dialog boxes and use keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+O for Open and F12 for Save As) or add the commands to the Quick Access Toolbar.
