Default Embedding video into powerpoint

Hi All,

I want to start by saying I am computer savvy and this has completely stumped me, yet it is so simple. I have done it so many times and it's just not working anymore.

All I want to do is embed a video into a presentation. I do the usual insert movie from file, which is .mp4 format, which is supported by powerpoint. It plays the video fine. But when I save the powerpoint it's only 64kb big and won't play the video on other computers (obviously).

For some weird reason instead of literally embedding the video into the ppt file it is simply making a link to it on the hard drive. At no point have I gave that instruction to powerpoint. I have added dozens of videos this way and they've always embedded.

I have attempted saving under many file formats that powerpoint offers and have tried .wmv, and .avi.

The guide officially by microsoft is what I have done dozens of times.

It's just RANDOMLY stopped working now.

Help!
