I'm not surprised you couldn't find anything, because
Word does not use ini files and has no need of them. If your process uses ini files, that's because your document or its template has a macro that references them - and for all I know, they're not true ini files but just something given the ini extension. That is not a Word issue, per se, but of the programming code in your document or its template.
