macropod...Thanks! That's encouraging. I guess that I'll fire up my old lap top that I have Linux installed on and check the supplemental CD on it to see what's on it. There is probably a text file explaining how to use the software, and if the utility is an exe file, it probably can't hurt a Linux system even if it's set to try to autorun.
