Default Generate individual checklists from one template

Hi all,

I have the following issue I want to resolve. I have what is essentially a project checklist with header data involving part numbers, project managers, project, unit numbers etc. and a list of activities and actions to be carried out. This list is common for one product in one project but needs to be replicated (with unit numbers) for multiple units in a project. In other words Project 123, Part XYZ, unit 1, 2, 3, 4.

In addition, Part XYZ may involve activities a, b, c, e and j, whereas similar part ABC would require activities a, c, e, f, g, h, I.

What I want to be able to do is generate a form with standard header data and a selection of activities (possibly from master list) and then generate x clones of that form numbered individually. If anything changes (header data, activity details) I want to be able to change just the "master" form and then be able to re-generate the "clones" with the changed details. The forms are printed out and used in hard copy (the activities need to be signed off).

After someone came up with a mock-up of this that I agreed to, they realised they didn't have the skills to implement. I can have this programmed if needs be, but I would be interested if there is a commercial document management package/macro collection) available that could be more easily adapted to what I want to do.

The forms are currently in excel, which is why we want to look at that, but would this be easier in access? Can anyone comment on that?
