Default Replace curly ("66") quotes

I have inherited a Word (doc) file, language UK English. It has curly ("66" and "99") quotes. I need to replace each 66 quote with a 66 quote plus a space. I have tried to do this in both Word 2003 and Word 2010. I open search-and-replace and in "find" I enter ASCII code 0147 (using the number pad in Word 2003, and copy-and-paste in Word 2010 because I have no number pad on my laptop). In "replace" I enter ASCII code 0147 plus a space. But when I run search-and-replace I get a 99 quote plus a space, not a 66 quote plus a space. I tried doing this with a special character (replace with 0147 plus the Norwegian letter å), so that Word would not think it was a closing quote, but this still gives me a 99 quote not a 66. How can I replace a 66 quote with a 66 quote plus a space?
