Default Two Issues Remove Line and unwanted space

I have two issues I need help with.
First I have used the ____ underline by holding down the shift key and tapping the underline character. For instance if I wanted to display an addition problem like 123 On line one then + 456 on line two then draw a line under the math problem. Sometimes, after I draw the line inder the math problem and hit enter a thick dark line goes across the whole page and I can't figure out how to delete that thick dark line going across the whole page and replace it with a short line that JUST goes under the math problem. Undo arrow is no help.
123
+456
____
579
Any Ideas?

My second issue is that when creating a large or complicated document that I want to email, I want to create the document in Word then when I am finished, I cut and paste it into Windows Mail for Vista.

For some reason when I paste the document into Mail the line spacing goes crazy and an additional line is inserted making the whole document show double spacing between lines. Any idea how to fix?
Thanks in advence,
John
