Thanks for replies. I'm sure a tech savvy person could have solved the issue in 10 minutes, but it took me another ten hours. For the life of me, I could not delete previous attempts to paginate, so the final product had roman numerals mixed in with normal page numbers. I finally created a new document and carefully copied and pasted in the text and photos from the book piece by piece, always making sure that it didn't also include the hidden code with its unwanted roman numerals. I think I might have got better use of my time learning to use Adobe InDesign. Thanks again.
