Now we are talking at cross purposes!. Windows XP is an operating system and as such is not at all the same animal as the actual programs that run within it, such as Word. Your query does not relate to the operating system, but it does to Word, and you have mentioned that you use Word every day at work. The instructions I gave you should work provided you have a Word document open. It's in there that you will find the details that I mention, not in Win XP.
Just to explain further, if you were to use Excel, or Powerpoint, or Photoshop or any other program it would be running within the operating system (OS), in your case WXP. An OS (and there are plenty of alternatives) makes the computer work, but you need actual programs to be able to do the things you want to do (like word-processing, for example).
