Default Cell Background Color: Base it on Content of Cell?

Hello, I am using Office Home and Student 2010 and have an Excel 2010 question.

I’ve been using Filemaker Pro 12 to manage my movie collection, and have exported the database records to a .xlsx file. It appears to have exported fully and properly.

Now, I’m working with Excel 2010 and Access 2013, which I bought last week. Anyway, here’s my question:

One of my Excel columns is “Color.” (My movie collection is color-coded based on genre.)

I’d like the background color of the cells in this column to reflect the information in each cell. For example, if the word RED is in a cell, I want that cell to be red. If the word BLUE is in a cell, I want the color to be blue. Et cetera.

Do I need to use Conditional Formatting for this, in Excel 2010, or does this require something else? How do I go about learning how to do this?

Thank you for any assistance you care to give. J. Danniel
