Yes. However, that (original) line cannot be in a header or footer. Sometimes an entire page of material is placed in a header or footer, especially in a cover page.

Click on the original line. Is the Header/Footer tools tab displayed on the Ribbon? If so, you are in a header or footer. You need to move that material into the body of the document. I suspect the same problem would arise if the original line were placed in a text box or frame.
