Direct font formatting (= not part of a style, applied for example via the buttons on the Home tab on the ribbon) applied to heading paragraphs will be replicated in the table of contents.

The alternative is to modify the formatting of the TOC styles (TOC 1, TOC 2, etc.) which will change the appearance of the TOC entries.
