Shortcut is Alt-F10. I use this all the time. I have a slide with over 300 objects on it, and I'm using animations, along with macros for animations.

If you have a LOT of animations, I found it convenient to group them, and give that group a meaningful name. I also have little tiny rectangles off-screen with a name similar to that group, only with ">----- Group Name -------<". Keep this label with the group and shrink the group down, which makes it easier to pick out things.
