To create such a sequence, you could use a field coded as:
{=MOD({PAGE},2)*INT(({PAGE}+1)/2) \# 0;;}

Note: The field brace pairs (ie '{ }') for the above example are created in the document header or footer via Ctrl-F9 (Cmd-F9 on a Mac) - you can't simply type them or copy & paste them from this message. Nor do you use the Insert|Quick Parts|Fields dialogue.
