Default I want an "unstacked" bar chart

Hello,

I have two sets of data, to graph against a common x-axis. I simply want to use bar charts for both data sets. I want them "in line" as far as the x-axis goes. At each point (pair of bars), I want the top of each bar to represent the actual y-value. Of course, the shorter bar will be in front, so it will be visible, with the taller bar extending on up to its value. In other words, I do NOT want them to be stacked. But I simply cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to do this in Excel 2000. I would have thought it would be the default, as opposed to the "stacked". I mean, doesn't one normally want to be able to immediately see the value, without subtracting, etc? Anyway, do I even have the right name here? It's a "bar chart", right? Not a "column chart" or something? Thanks for any help.

Rick
