You can use both versions if you wish, without uninstalling Office 2003. When installing different Office versions, you should always install the older version first, so that part's already taken care of. If you do decide to uninstall Office 2003, Office 2010 should pick up any Office 2003 customizations you had, as those files don't get deleted.
