I find this a little confusing.

I have 24 appendices in my document. Each appendix has a "Maintenance" section. I can link to any Maintenance section (which is a Header 1 style) from the main body text of the document (even though each link has exactly the same name, it still links to the correct page).

Anyway, if I then try and link from a footnote to the same Maintenance section (which I have already successfully linked in the main body text), then the footnote links just diverts to the main Maintenance section listed in the table of contents at the beginning of the document (there is another maintenance section before you get to any of the appendices).

I can of course get around this as you say by creating a bookmark for these sections (where a footnote needs to be linked); though it just seems strange that I can link to the correct section when linking from the body text, but when it comes to a footnote it won't link to the same section, it diverts to the tabe of contents.
