Default 8pt fonts not showing up correctly in PowerPoint

This issue is with a MacBook Pro (10.7.5) running Office 2011.

I have a client in the office that is having an issue with fonts when they view or create PowerPoint files. Any time he uses a font with 8pt size, the font looks distorted. If he increases the size, the fonts look normal. If he receives a PowerPoint file from another user, the fonts will also be distorted if it is using 8pt and below.

This happens with multiple different fonts and seems to only happen in PowerPoint. Microsoft Word works just fine when viewing smaller fonts.

It seems to be machine specific because if he sends the PowerPoint file to another user, the 8pt font looks normal. The odd thing is that we have some clients in another office that are having the same issue. So there is a handful of users experiencing this issue.

When I open up his Font Book, it does the same thing. Fonts will look normal at 9pt and higher. Once he switches to 8pt, they become distorted and they don't look right.

He has uninstalled and re-installed Office and fonts. Does anyone have any ideas of how this problem can be fixed?
