Default Mail Merge Question

I have a four per page word document setup that i want to mail merge with an excel file. I am having a problem getting it to sequence to the next item on the excel file on the second and any additional pages. I have put in the "next record" but it is incementing by one as it should but how do i get it to know to go to number five item for page two not start with item two on page two?
