Default Sync Outlook 2010 contacts, calendar & tasks with Outlook.com & Windows Mobile 8

I am extremely frustrated at Microsoft right now.
I am using Outlook 2010 and have just been given a Windows 8 mobile phone.
There is apparently no way to sync contacts, calender entries & task between my pc and phone via usb or Wi-Fi
Apparently I need to do it via Outlook.com using Hotmail Connector. This is not really a problem except that syncing between pc and Outlook is not real time. I need to shut down Outlook 2010 and my web browser before Outlook and Outlook.com will not sync. I can get contacts to sync but not my calendar or tasks. Hotmail Connector does not support tasks.

Having to shut down and restart both applications to get them to sync is not an option, because it I don't one of them is out of date!

I seriously would have thought that what I am trying to do would have addressed by Microsoft as standard. surely I am not the only one wanting to do this.

I am so frustrated that, if by the end of this weekend I do not not have this sorted, I am going to seriously consider moving to Apple. I like the concept of having one eco-system. PC, phone, tablet running the same software/ OS. Is this not what Microsoft is punting?

I am so cross that I would love to write to S Ballmer and tell how pissed I am.

And on top of it I cannot use my old phone because it uses a standard sim card whereas I now have a micro sim card. So I have a phone with no contacts on it. Useless, useless, useless
