OK, since the bookmark contains more than one paragraph, my previous suggestion isn't going to help.
When you cross-reference the text of a multi-paragraph bookmark, not only the content and the font formatting but also the paragraph formatting (such as line spacing, spacing before/after, indentation, numbering) may be included.
Try the following to get rid of the spacing between paragraphs in the cross-reference: First display the field code of the cross-reference (you can use Alt+F9 as a toggle) and remove the \* CHARFORMAT switch if it is present. Update the field. Then select the whole paragraphs containting the field result and, on the Page Layout tab of the ribbon, set Spacing Before and After to zero (do the same for Line Spacing if you want to). This should preserve the formatting and add a \* MERGEFORMAT switch to the field code.
