Is this a single paragraph of text that you have bookmarked? Then you could just recreate the bookmark and make sure not to include the paragraph mark at the end of the paragraph; that way, line spacing and spacing before/after won't be included when you update the cross-reference.

Click the ¶ button on the Home tab to show/hide paragraph marks (¶) as well as other nonprinting marks.
