I really appreciate your response, especially this late at night .
I am not confusing duration with work. My technical team advise that a task will take two days of effort to complete a task. As such I enter 2 days as the duration. I then assign a resource who is only available for 50% of the time. In which case the task will actually take 4 days to complete in reality.
To give a little more background to my issue:
I have a team that provides both Operational Support and Project Support. These are split as 50% Operational Support and 50% Project Support.
