Thanks for the reply but I don't appear to be explaining myself properly.

All my outline numbering in both documents is working perfectly.

I have to cut a section out of one document because people who are reviewing this section cannot see the rest of the document.

When I cut this section out and past it all the outline numbering will change by starting at 1.1 instead of 6.2.

I wanted a process similar to Excel paste special / values which pastes the text content and does not "recalculate". So if I pasted my text it would read paragraph 6.2 not paragraph 1.1 because the numbering has been restarted.

I have tried saving as an rtf, txt and everything else I can think of but that does not work.

1st question:

Is there any way to copy a section with outline numbering and paste it with only the text and format details NOT the outline numbering?

2nd Question

Is there any way to restart numbering but NOT at zero., at a number I specify like 6.2?
