This is a relatively insignificant glitch, but for my current project it's very aggravating.

I'm using Word 2008 on a Mac. For most of my documents, no matter how long they are, a live word count appears at the bottom of the document window, with the current position of the cursor and total word count shown. But in a few cases, it's missing.

I can select tools>word count for the total, but that doesn't show me the word-count position of the cursor.

When I check Word>preferences>view>window, live word count is checked.

I'm stumped.
