Depending on the extract data format, you could possibly use Word's mailmerge facility. Indeed, Word may be able to do the mailmerge directly from your database without the need for an extract. Alternatively, you could load the data into Excel, where additional data could be added.

In either case, if you use Word's mailmerge facility with either the database, the extracted data, or the Excel workbook as the data source and send the merge to an output document, you can make further edits are required there. Depending on the nature of the edits, though, it might be possible to construct field tests in the Word mailmerge document to alter the output in a pre-defined way.
