Thank you for your reply. Yes, I have thought about that and I think the way to do this from whether the subject is likely to show up on the exams.

I have two columns, subject name and the percentage of time the subject has appeared. So if a subject show up every year, it should get a higher priority a weight of 1. A subject that shows up only 1/2 of the time, gets weighted 50%. Does that sound right?
