I`ve tried everything in tools options>rules and alerts>sounds and devices but no change. I can send an email to myself and the sound can be heard but, the sound doesn`t play when other emails come in. I have even taken advice to insert the sound wave info in the registry as follows but to no change> Any experts out there?
If you've configured a sound to play when a new email message arrives and that sound doesn't play even after you've used the Control Panel Sound applet to confirm that it is correctly configured, you can configure the sound via the registry:
- Start regedit.exe.
- Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\.Default\ MailBeep\.current.
- Double-click (Default), and set its value to the WAV file to play.
- Click OK.
- Close regedit.
- Restart the machine.
