Your suggestion is a nifty one, quick and easy.
But I did a bit of experiment because I think there should be something to do with the Normal template.

I go to the Normal.dotm in %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Templates
and
Go to Font
and
Change the All text Font Color to red
and
Save

When I open a new document or any other old documents, the font is red. But I don't know why

when I edit an old document (an exception), even if I attach the Normal template to the document, it is still the automatic black colour. If you are interested, please take a look at the attached documents.

In the zip files, you can change the template path in test.docx to the attached Normal.dotm path.

Thank you.
