Yes, I have tried your suggestion. The file is not corrupt, I can open it on other machines ok. The document is a job application and they are created by an hosting company through a browser and saved has a word document and then sent out via email attachment and some members of staff get the attached message and cannot open them, but some members can.
We use a mixture of Win XP and Win 7 Pro and I have seen the document problem on both operating systems. I have tried the following: repair office, uninstalled and re-installed, your suggestion along with trying to open in a txt document.
